Special kids enjoy catch of the day

Old Evergreen Highway — One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish. Maybe no red or blue fish at the 5th Annual Columbia Springs Special Kids Fishing Festival, but each child did get to catch two rainbow trout grown at the hatchery. More than 70 kids with special needs, their friends and families enjoyed the day despite the rain. The Mudeye Puppets entertained and educated the crowd about recycling. Volunteers turned out to flip burgers, bait hooks and share information about healthy watersheds. The International Longshoremen’s Warehouse Union Local 4 donated money and a large number of the volunteers. Clark Public Utilities supplied fish, tents and volunteers for the free event.
