CLEVELAND (AP) — Indians designated hitter Travis Hafner, who has been sidelined with an oblique injury, will swing off a batting tee Saturday.
Hafner, who is batting .345 with five homers and 22 RBIs, was injured during batting practice on May 18. Indians trainer Lonnie Soloff says Hafner is probably two weeks away from resuming game activities, which likely would begin with a minor league rehab assignment.
Despite injuries to several key players, the Indians have been in first place in the AL Central since April 7.
Third baseman Jack Hannahan, who has played well defensively, was scratched from Friday night’s lineup because of a strained left hamstring. He was replaced by Adam Everett.
