NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — T.J. Rivera drove in three runs and Troy beat Oklahoma State 9-2 in the opener of the Nashville Regional on Friday.

Tyler Ray gave up two runs and eight hits in 7 2-3 innings. He held the Cowboys scoreless after the third inning and struck out five.

Rivera’s two-run, two out double in the top of the eighth followed a three-run triple by Tyler Hannah to help the Trojans win an NCAA tournament game for the first time since 2006.

The Trojans chased Cowboys starter Hunter Herrera in the sixth when Hayden Hillyer singled in the go-ahead run with one out.
