SANDY, Utah (AP) — Jean Alexandre filled in at forward and scored a goal to lead Real Salt Lake to a 2-0 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday night.

Alexandre scored his first career MLS goal in the 32nd minute on a pass from Kyle Beckerman. In the 79th, he set up Fabian Espindola’s goal for his first career MLS assist.

Espindola drew out goalkeeper Joe Cannon, then blasted the ball past him and buried it inside the right post to give Salt Lake a 2-0 advantage.

Vancouver hasn’t won in 13 games since taking its first MLS game against Toronto FC.
