COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) — Josh Garcia homered and Jett Bandy and Bobby Rinard each drove in two runs as Arizona forced a deciding game in the College Station regional with a 7-4 victory over Texas A&M on Sunday night.
The Wildcats (39-20) and Aggies (44-19) will meet again Monday, with the winner advancing to the super regionals.
A frightening moment occurred in the top of the third, when A&M’s Krey Bratsen lined a ball that struck Arizona starter Tyler Hale on his right (pitching) arm following his delivery. Hale was sprawled on the mound for a few seconds before climbing to his feet. After attempting a warmup pitch, Hale left to a standing ovation.
Arizona trailed 2-1 in the sixth when Robert Refsnyder led off with a double. Rob Childress pulled starter Derrick Hadley for Kyle Martin, but the Wildcats scored three times to take a 4-2 lead.
