Lars Boom wins Dauphine prologue

SAINT-JEAN-DE-MAURIENNE, France (AP) — Dutch rider Lars Boom has won the prologue of the Criterium du Dauphine.

Boom completed the 3.4-mile time trial around Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne in 6 minutes, 18 seconds Sunday.

Alexandre Vinokourov of Kazakhstan took second place, 3 seconds behind Boom.

Bradley Wiggins of Britain placed third, 6 seconds off the pace.

On Monday, riders have an 89-mile trek from Albertville to Saint-Pierre-de-Chartreuse. The race ends June 12.
