COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — The NCAA baseball regional between South Carolina and Stetson has been delayed by a severe thunderstorm that knocked out power to Carolina Stadium.

The game was halted at 8:24 p.m. Sunday with South Carolina leading 4-1 in the top of the fifth inning. Most of the crowd had filed out before the storm hit but some were under the covered concourse.

Winds were so strong that they blew part of the tarp off the infield. Motorized carts that groundskeepers put in place to anchor the covering also got pushed around.

Officials are waiting for the power to return and the storm to pass before trying to resume.
