CLEVELAND (AP) — Josh Hamilton is sitting out of the Texas Rangers’ game against the Cleveland Indians.

Manager Ron Washington said he wanted to give the reigning AL MVP a day off Sunday.

The slugging outfielder missed 35 games after breaking his right arm in a headfirst dive into home plate against Detroit on April 12.

Hamilton hit a three-run homer in Friday’s 11-2 win and followed that with a two-run blast that carried an estimated 445 feet in Saturday’s 4-0 victory.

Hamilton is batting .315 with three homers and 19 RBIs in 23 games.
