C-W Historical Society to meet Saturday

Topics will include Columbia River Plateau archaeology and Indian rock art

A Washington native with research interests in protecting and saving cultural resources, Native rock art and Columbia Plateau archaeology will be the guest speaker at the next quarterly meeting of the Camas-Washougal Historical Society.

Mike Taylor, co-author of five books, will talk Saturday, at 2 p.m., in the community room of the Camas Police Station, 2100 N.E. Third Ave. He is principal of Culture Watch Northwest, an organization dedicated to protecting places that matter.

Taylor served as president of the Oregon Archeological Society for seven years. For more than a decade as a volunteer researcher, he has written professional articles and presentations, as well as doing hands-on field experiences worldwide.

The meeting is free and open to the public. Taylor will be available to answer questions after his presentation, and light refreshments will be served. For more information, call 835-8742.
