DALLAS (AP) — First-time coach Mark Jackson fully expects the Golden State Warriors to be in the playoffs next season.

Speaking before Game 4 of the NBA finals Tuesday night, Jackson said to “put it in bold letters” that the Warriors are going to be a playoff team next season. He says he wouldn’t have taken the job if that wasn’t his anticipation.

And Jackson expects Golden State, which has been to the playoffs only once since 1994, to do more than just make the playoffs.

In 17 years as an NBA point guard for seven teams, he made the playoffs 14 times and ranks third on the career assists list.

Jackson, hired Monday, will begin his new job after he’s finished calling the NBA finals as a lead analyst for ESPN and ABC.
