SEATAC, Wash. (AP) — The Washington State Patrol trooper who stopped a silver Lincoln for erratic driving, dramatic braking and a broken windshield was amazed to find a 13-year-old boy behind the wheel.
Patrol spokeswoman Trooper Julie Startup said Tuesday the boy told the trooper it was his first time behind the wheel. The trooper learned that the boy’s 40-year-old father apparently had been drinking at a house Sunday and had his son drive them home in the community of SeaTac.
Startup says the father showed obvious signs of intoxication. He was booked into the King County Jail for investigation of reckless endangerment and allowing an unauthorized person to drive.
The Seattle Times says the boy was released to his mother. He faces no charges.
