S. Ore. man files $4.5M suit in truck crash

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A southern Oregon man whose pickup truck was crushed when a double-tractor trailer rolled on top of it last December is suing the trucking company and driver for $4.5 million.

The Oregonian reports that 57-year-old William Geary was waiting at a red light in Central Point when the second trailer on the commercial truck tipped over onto Geary’s pickup.

Geary’s attorney, Tom D’Amore, said the lawsuit was filed Tuesday in Multnomah County Circuit Court in Portland because the Seattle-based trucking company, Express Transport Corp., does business statewide and attorneys in the case are based in Portland.

A company spokesman declined comment Tuesday.

D’Amore said Geary’s injuries included leg and vertebrae fractures, a broken arm and internal injuries. He was hospitalized for two months before moving to a rehabilitation center.
