NEW YORK (AP) — The New York Police Department says former star basketball player Thomas Emma has been found dead after plunging from a Manhattan building.

The NYPD says Emma’s body was found at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday on a second-floor landing of a building on Central Park South.

Emma was a Duke University basketball team captain in 1983 and was drafted by the Chicago Bulls.

The Daily News says he was also a high school star in Manhasset, on Long Island, and wrote a book titled “Basketball Player’s Comprehensive Guide to Strength Training.”

He was president of Power Performance, Inc., a company devoted to training young athletes.

The New York City medical examiner will determine the cause of his death.
