FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — JR Hildebrand will be dealing with more than just the memories of his Indianapolis 500 crash when he races this weekend at Texas.

He’ll also be contending with a left knee injury.

The rookie who crashed in the final turn of IndyCar’s biggest race was injured during a fitness promotion Wednesday in Texas. His team, Panther Racing, confirmed the injury on Thursday but did not provide details.

IndyCar driver Ryan Briscoe and four-time Olympic gold medalist Michael Johnson also participated in the event.

The team says Hildebrand is expected to drive this weekend and has former 500 winner Buddy Rice in Texas if he’s needed.
