TORONTO (AP) — The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed goaltender James Reimer to a three-year contract extension with the club.
Reimer’s agent, Ray Petkau, confirmed the deal Thursday.
The 23-year-old Reimer led a surprising turnaround for the Maple Leafs in the second half of the season, going 20-10-5 in 37 games after getting called up from the AHL.
Toronto still missed out on the playoffs.
Reimer would have become a restricted free agent July 1. He also represented Canada at the recent world hockey championship in Slovakia.
