BIRMINGHAM, England (AP) — Mirjana Lucic reached her second quarterfinal in more than a decade, defeating Andrea Hlavackova 6-2, 7-6 (4) Thursday at the Aegon Classic.

Lucic reached her first quarterfinal since 1999 in Strasbourg last month. She lit up the WTA tour as a teen in the late 1990s until she was overwhelmed by family and financial problems.

Next she’ll play Ana Ivanovic, the former No. 1 and title favorite. Ivanovic defeated Rebecca Marino of Canada 6-3, 6-2 without facing a break point.

Also, Daniela Hantuchova defeated Alla Kudryavtseva 6-4, 6-2.
