SEATTLE (AP) — A Seattle man who crashed his car into several people at the city’s Pike Place Market has been sentenced to 12 months in work release. Travis C. Lipski told police he had smoked a synthetic form of marijuana known as “spice” before the Dec. 16 crash.
The 40-year-old man was sentenced Friday. He earlier pleaded guilty to vehicular assault, reckless driving and reckless endangerment.
Witnesses said they saw him slumped over the wheel of his Subaru wagon just before he sideswiped a parked car, struck and injured three pedestrians and crashed into a produce truck.
The Seattle Times says that under work release, Lipski will be allowed to leave jail to go to work but must report back after work.
