BLAINE, Wash. (AP) — The Peace Arch Park border crossing at Blaine is expected to close Sunday between 12 and 4 p.m. for the 88th annual Hands Across the Border Celebration.

Scouts and youth groups from the United States and Canada parade flags in recognition of the friendship between the two countries.

During the event, traffic is diverted to the Pacific Highway border crossing or the crossings in Lynden or Sumas. Customs and Border Protection advises travelers to allow extra time for crossing the border Sunday afternoon.
