LE COLLET D’ALLEVARD, France (AP) — Joaquim Rodriguez Oliver won the sixth stage of the Criterium du Dauphine by breaking away on a final ascent on Friday, while Bradley Wiggins of Britain retained the overall lead.

Oliver, the 32-year-old Spaniard, pointed skyward as he finished Saturday’s 120-mile ride from Les Gets to Le Collet d’Allevard alone.

It was the Katusha rider’s second stage win this year after taking the first stage of the Tour of Basque Country in April.

Wiggins, of Team Sky, gained time against his closest challengers, including second-place Cadel Evans of Australia.

The race ends Sunday with 73-mile trek from Pontcharra to La Toussuire, with a ride up the punishing Croix de Fer (Iron Cross) pass and another uphill finish.
