PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Police have arrested a man in connection with an early morning north Portland burglary in which the intruder was stabbed in the abdomen during a fight with the homeowner.

Sgt. Pete Simpson says a 26-year-old man surrendered Tuesday night after police were sent to a north Portland residence. The man was taken to a hospital for treatment of a stab wound. Police did not immediately identify him.

Police say the homeowner awoke about 3 a.m. Tuesday to find an intruder in his house. The homeowner fought with the man, who fled. The Oregonian says the homeowner was punched but not seriously hurt.
