Hudson’s Bay — Sgt. Darwin Nakagawa earned the title as the Noncommissioned Officer: Best Warrior for the 1st Battalion, 413th Regiment U.S. Army Reserves in Vancouver. The weeklong competition in which he competed included a physical training test, combative review and practice and a night land-navigation course. After these, Nakagawa finished a weapons qualification, 12-mile ruck march, an obstacle course, warrior tasks, and written and oral exams. Despite having been the oldest competitor at 49 and having only a few weeks to prepare, Nakagawa demonstrated his toughness to competitors half his age, said Spc. Dominique Byrd, human resources specialist.
