LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — The Breeders’ Cup is expanding its two-day event to 15 races with the addition of a Juvenile Sprint to the event at Churchill Down on Nov. 4-5.

The Breeders’ Cup announced Tuesday that the six-furlong race will have a $500,000 purse and is open to 2-year-old colts, geldings and fillies. The race is limited to 14 starters and will be run Nov. 4.

The races will still carry purses totaling $26 million. The BC Sprint purse drops to $1.5 million from $2 million.

Adding a race is the first expansion since 2008, when the total was increased from 11 to 14 races.
