MOUNT VERNON, Wash. (AP) — Some residents of Skagit River neighbors Mount Vernon and Burlington are talking about a merger.
The Envision Skagit Citizen Committee says a merger would direct population growth into urban zones and preserve farmland.
The Skagit Valley Herald says the idea has drawn a strong reaction from some members of the public. They’ll have a chance to comment at a public meeting Thursday in Burlington.
