EPHRATA, Wash. (AP) — The Grant County sheriff’s office says an 8-year-old girl was killed and three people were injured when their car ran off a road and hit a utility pole Wednesday near Ephrata.

Alexandrea Hamilton of Quincy died at the scene.

Sheriff Tom Jones says the car was driven by her 29-year-old aunt. The aunt and an 11-year-old girl who was in the back seat were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. A 39-year-old man who was a passenger in the front seat was flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with a back injury.

Jones says speed was a factor in the crash.
