An email sent to The Columbian from Channel 2 news anchor Carl Click on Thursday:
“Early Thursday morning, one of our overnight producers got a call from a NYC television station asking if we had a reporter available to do a live report for them on the riots in Vancouver after the Stanley Cup finals.
“Our producer gave them a quick geography lesson. They hadn’t figured out that while a Portland TV station is quite close to Vancouver, WA, there is an entire state (not to mention several TV stations in Seattle) between us and Vancouver, B.C.
“We had a good laugh at their expense, but we should have gone through with it, and waited for the report to tell them — live on the air — that everything in Vancouver, USA, was calm and law-abiding.”

Twenty-two-year-old Rory McIlroy has a 3-stroke lead through the first round of the U.S. Open at Congressional.
Earlier this week, the golf sensation from Northern Ireland said he empathized with LeBron James’ fourth-quarter woes considering he blew a significant lead in the final round of the Masters’ last April.
Talking Points likes McIlroy’s chances of winning his first of many majors this weekend, thinking he’s gotten his collapse out of his system. Plus, Dirk’s not hitting the links this week.
