LONGVIEW, Wash. (AP) — A Cowlitz County court administrator says Washougal Mayor Sean Guard will face a misdemeanor charge of impersonating an officer last December when he was driving a city car on Interstate 5.

The Daily News reports a state trooper saw Guard flash emergency lights to move slower-moving traffic into the right lane.

Guard responded to the charge Thursday with an email statement apologizing for creating the embarrassing situation.
