Popping nails close oldest bridge over Wenatchee

MONITOR (AP) — Chelan County is closing the oldest wooden bridge serving vehicles crossing the Wenatchee River.

The Wenatchee World reports that nails used to fasten wooden planks on the Monitor Bridge have begun popping up due to vibration. The historic bridge will close for a week.

The closure comes just about a month after of a $2 million restoration project on the Monitor Bridge was completed.
