ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Braves have recalled outfielder Wilkin Ramirez from Triple-A Gwinnett to start against the Texas Rangers.
Ramirez is playing left field and hitting fifth in Saturday’s game.
The 25-year-old Ramirez was hitting .238 with seven homers, 21 RBIs and eight stolen bases at Gwinnett. He was 1 for 3 with a double in a short stay with Atlanta in May.
The Braves optioned right-hander Randall Delgado to Double-A Mississippi. Delgado gave up four runs, three earned, in Friday night’s 6-2 loss to the Rangers as a fill-in for injured right-hander Tommy Hanson.
Diory Hernandez is starting at third base as Chipper Jones is held out for the second straight game with a strained adductor muscle in his right leg.
