ASTORIA, Ore. (AP) — The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Fisheries have announced that the Oregon coastal salmon is retaining its threatened status under the Endangered Species Act.

The ruling Friday culminates a couple of years of review. The agency first listed the coho salmon as threatened in 2008, followed by two years of studies.

The Daily Astorian reports that because of the decision, the critical habitat designation and related regulations for Oregon coast coho remain in effect.
