SEATTLE (AP) — Some women say they’ll march in provocative clothing on Sunday in Seattle in a demonstration known as a “slut walk.”
Organizers say the women will march downtown at noon along Pine Street to a rally at Westlake Center “to fight the sexist social acceptance of rape in our culture, and reclaim the word slut.'”
Similar marches have been held in other cities in the protest movement, sparked by a Toronto police officer’s remark that women could avoid being raped by not dressing like “sluts.”
The seattlepi.com reports some members of the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kan., plan to picket the Seattle slut walk.
