PARACHINAR, Pakistan (AP) — Pakistani officials say a suspected U.S. drone fired missiles at a vehicle in northwest Pakistan near the Afghan border, killing two suspected militants.

Local government official Noor Alam says Monday’s attack occurred in Khar Dand, part of the Kurram tribal area.

Drone attacks are very rare in Kurram, an area where many Taliban militants and their allies have fled Pakistani army operations.

Two Pakistani intelligence officials confirmed the attack in Kurram and the death of the two suspected militants.

They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media.
