PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — An Oregon man has been sentenced to nearly a half century in prison after earlier pleading guilty to federal child pornography charges related to photographing his sexual abuse of his 6-year-old stepdaughter and 14-year-old disabled stepson.

On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Ancer Haggerty sentenced the 43-year-old man from the Portland suburb of Aloha to a 49-year term. The Associated Press is not identifying the man to avoid identifying the sex abuse victims.

The man admitted he knowingly caused the children to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of taking photos that were sent to others.

He will be sentenced July 13 in Washington County Circuit Court for previous guilty pleas to state charges including rape and sexual abuse.

His wife has pleaded guilty to state and federal charges in the case and awaits sentencing in July. The children were placed in protective custody.
