LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) — Malaysia’s drug testing laboratory has lost an appeal against its suspension by the World Anti-Doping Agency for failing to meet international standards.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport says its panel dismissed the Malaysian challenge against its sanction for “poor management of the laboratory and of the sample analysis process.”
The court says it “confirmed the WADA decision in full” after establishing the “gravity of the analytical errors made by the center.”
The lab in north Penang state lost its accreditation in June 2010 after 15 years as a WADA testing base.
Officials had said problems were caused by “miscommunication” after WADA issued new guidelines.
