CINCINNATI (AP) — The Yankees put right-handed reliever Jeff Marquez on the 15-day disabled list between games of their doubleheader Wednesday against the Cincinnati Reds.
Marquez has a sore shoulder. He made three appearances for the Yankees — the most recent Sunday night in Chicago, where he threw a scoreless inning. The Yankees claimed him off waivers from the White Sox and added him to the roster on June 8.
The Yankees called up right-hander Buddy Carlyle from Triple-A to take his place. Carlyle was 0-1 with a 2.70 ERA in seven games for New York earlier this season.
