CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The Charlotte Bobcats have selected the star of this spring’s NCAA tournament, point guard Kemba Walker of Connecticut, with the ninth pick in the NBA draft.

The 6-foot-1 Walker averaged 23.5 points in leading the Huskies to the national championship. He’ll know be paired with another small guard, 6-foot D.J. Augustin, as Charlotte looks to rebuild.

The move comes after a person familiar with the deal said the Bobcats agreed to send Stephen Jackson to Milwaukee in a three-way trade that gave Charlotte the No. 7 pick from Sacramento. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the league had not announced the deal.

The Kings took forward Bismack Biyombo of Congo with that seventh pick.
