PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) — Funding has been restored for about 50 Libyan students at Washington State University.

Officials for WSU were told Wednesday night that the Libyan Ministry of Education and Scientific Research has released funds to continue the Libyan-North American Scholarship Program through next May.

The fighting in Libya has prompted the United Nations to freeze Libyan assets, which included the funding that supports Libyan students and their families in the U.S. and Canada. The Pullman community rallied to help the students stay in the United States.

The funding covers monthly living allowances, health insurance and tuition fees.
