MONEE, Ill. (AP) — An Illinois Little League baseball coach has died after collapsing on the field while his son and his teammates looked on.

WBBM-TV in Chicago reports 43-year-old Brian Jones was coaching the Beecher Hot Rods Wednesday night when he suddenly got sick. His wife, Bobbie Jones, says her husband told her he felt like he was going to pass out, then fell on top of her.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office says the coach died from cardiovascular disease. Bobbie Jones says she didn’t know about the ailment.

Jones’ son, Ryan, was one of the players on the field when his father fell over. He says his dad had told him, ‘Don’t wind up when you’re throwing it to first base — and just have fun.”
