VALENCIA, Spain (AP) — Formula One driver Sergio Perez of Mexico will wait until after Friday’s practice before deciding whether he is fit enough to race for Sauber at the European Grand Prix.

Perez was hospitalized for a concussion after a crash during qualifying for the Monaco GP. Spanish driver Pedro de la Rosa replaced Perez in Montreal and is on standby in Valencia.

Perez, in his first F1 season, skipped the Canadian GP in Montreal after feeling dizzy in practice. He’s waiting to see how he feels after the practice session around Valencia’s street circuit ahead of Sunday’s race.
