RENTON, Wash. (AP) — Renton police who responded to a report of a suspicious item near the downtown library found a small explosive device.

Police in the suburb south of Seattle say the library was evacuated Wednesday afternoon, traffic was diverted around the area and a bomb disposal unit from the Port of Seattle neutralized the device.

KIRO says police and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are investigating.
