VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) — About 100 people picketed the Bonneville Power Administration office in Vancouver on Friday, protesting plans for a high-voltage line through populated areas of Clark and Cowlitz counties.

The Columbian reports citizen groups — Citizens Against the Towers, Another Way BPA and the Yale Valley Coalition — say all four proposed routes would hurt property values and pose health risks to homeowners. They want the BPA to consider a route that runs primarily through forested land.

BPA says it needs additional transmission capacity to meet the electricity demand the Portland-Vancouver metro area.
