Police arrest man suspected of shooting co-worker

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — Police say an Oregon man has shot and wounded a co-worker at a business in Eugene.

Police identified the suspect as 39-year-old Dale O’Callaghan, of Eugene. He was arrested shortly before 7 a.m. Friday at LHM Hydraulics.

Police spokeswoman Melinda McLaughlin said O’Callaghan was facing assault charges.

The victim was identified as 33-year-old Jerry Andrews of Eugene. He was taken to a hospital with injuries that didn’t appear to be life-threatening. KMTR-TV reported it was a gunshot wound to the shoulder.

Police say they had not yet determined a motive. Other details were not immediately available.

It was not immediately clear whether O’Callaghan had a lawyer.
