SANDY, Utah (AP) — Alvaro Saborio found his offensive form after struggling in the Gold Cup with Costa Rica, scoring twice in Real Salt Lake’s 3-1 victory over Toronto FC on Saturday night.
Nat Borchers also scored to help Salt Lake (7-3-5) snap a four-game winless streak.
Salt Lake struck first in the 39th minute on Borchers’ header off Kyle Beckerman’s corner kick.
Saborio made it 2-0 in the 42nd minute, tracking down a bouncing cross from Beckerman and tapping it across the line. Saborio added his second goal of the game in the 60th minute after tracking down a lob pass from Robbie Russell deep in the box and slotting it inside the right post.
Toronto scored in the 66th minute when Malcom Santos slipped by Jamison Olave and blasted a shot past goalkeeper Nick Rimando’s left side.
