Once again, the left wing is trying to pick the GOP presidential candidate they want. In 2000, every liberal spokesman told us that Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., was the one the left feared. They built him up at every turn. He was on all the Sunday morning talk programs and got only softball questions. They failed in 2000 and George W. Bush was nominated and elected.
In 2008, that tactic worked. The GOP was stuck with McCain. The left got what it wanted, a candidate who would not fight. McCain went so far as to say that he thought Barack Obama would be a good president. After that, how could he confront Obama on issues?
Well, they’re doing it again. This time their choice is Jon Huntsman. Every liberal spokesman, when asked to name the leading GOP candidates, always names Huntsman. They want another “Marvin Milktoast,” a punching bag who will not fight back. As U.S. ambassador to China, Huntsman was even an Obama appointee. Does anyone actually think that if he were the GOP candidate he would find fault with Obama? Huntsman has already referred to Obama as a remarkable leader. No. Not again. No more candidates like Bob Dole, McCain and certainly no Huntsman.
