MONTREAL (AP) — The World Anti-Doping Agency says it has signed a cooperation agreement with the World Customs Organization to help stop the global trafficking of banned drugs.
WADA Director General David Howman said Monday that the partnership should lead to better intelligence and education about organized crime gangs who distribute doping products.
The agreement is also designed to help introduce laws in the member countries of the Brussels-based WCO to give customs officials greater powers to act.
WCO Secretary General Kunio Mikuriya says the organization is committed to stopping the trade in “illegal, counterfeit and unlicensed pharmaceutical products.”
