CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Cubs recalled right-handed reliever Marcos Mateo from Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday in-between games of a doubleheader.

The Cubs lost to the Giants 13-7 in the opener. They optioned infielder D.J. LeMahieu to Triple-A to make room for the reliever.

Mateo joins the Cubs for the second time this year. He broke camp with the team, going 1-1 with a 5.74 ERA in 20 appearances before being sent down on May 17.

LeMahieu hit .243 (9 for 37) with a double and one RBI in 23 games in his first career stint in the big leagues.
