MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Former Minnesota Twins team president Howard Fox has died at the age of 90.
The Twins made the announcement on Tuesday. Fox worked for the Twins for more than 50 years, starting as general manager of a minor league affiliate for the Washington Senators.
Fox also worked for in public relations and was traveling secretary for the Senators. He accompanied them when they moved to Minnesota and worked his way up to Twins president in 1984.
Fox is credited with assembling the management team that led the Twins to their first World Series title in 1987.
The Twins say Fox died on Tuesday in hospice care near his home in Orlando, Fla. Funeral arrangements are pending.
