BEND, Ore. (AP) — An Oregon man has been accused of piloting a plane loaded with marijuana that was stopped at an Illinois airport last month.

KTVZ-TV reports that 46-year-old John Busche of Bend was arrested May 27 in Canton, Ill.

The Journal Star in Peoria, Ill., reported that police in Canton got just 20 minutes warning from federal Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agents that a small twin-engine plane flying from Oregon to North Carolina would drop off some marijuana at the airport in Canton.

Canton Police Chief Dan Taylor says the arrest and seizure of 78 pounds of marijuana went unannounced for nearly a month while the investigation continued.

Busche is facing various drug charges and was being held at the jail in Fulton County, Ill. His attorney was unavailable Tuesday.
