CLALLAM BAY, Wash. (AP) — The Washington Department of Corrections says one inmate has been killed in a shooting at the Clallam Bay Corrections Facility.

Spokesman Chad Lewis says the prison is secure and there’s no danger to the public.

Prison officials, with help from the State Patrol and Clallam County sheriff’s deputies, are investigating.

Details of the shooting have not been released.

The prison is about 45 miles west of Port Angeles. It opened in 1985 and has a capacity of 858 inmates in medium- to maximum-security custody. Lewis says it has a staff of more than 100 employees.

Lewis says the main concern is security and making sure other inmates and the prison staff are OK.
