Lincoln School Run — Lincoln School 4.3-mile Run, 9 a.m. Saturday, March 5. Run through the Lincoln neighborhood to the Discovery Trail, then climb through the Ben Franklin neighborhood back to Lincoln School. March Muddy Madness, an obstacle-course race, will be held at 9 a.m. on Sunday, March 6, at a private farm in Vancouver’s Ashley Heights neighborhood. Details for the course — described as a cross between Survivor and The Amazing Race — are being kept secret until race day to create an element of surprise for participants. The family event will include an obstacle course for kids. Spectators and volunteers are welcome. LITTLE LEAGUE

Little League’s main season runs March-July, including All-Star play. Some leagues offer fall ball programs. Little League is an all-volunteer program. In Washington, it is organized into 11 districts, two of which serve The Columbian’s readership area. Registration for the main spring-summer season is held in January and February. Boundary maps for the leagues in those districts are available on the district Web sites (listed below).

Here is some basic Little League information:

— Most leagues offer baseball and softball. Baseball for players ages 5-18 are based on the player’s age on April 30, 2011. Softball for girls ages 5-18 are based on player’s age on Dec. 31, 2010.

— Practices began in March and the Little League season runs through mid-June, followed by all-star competition.

— Little League is run by volunteers.

— Challenger Division. Battle Ground/Highlands, Columbia, and LaCamas are leagues that offer a Challenger Division for disabled players ages 20 and younger who live in southwest Washington.
