BELLINGHAM, Wash. (AP) — An autopsy shows that a man who was killed in a confrontation with law enforcement officers Monday near Lynden was shot by a Whatcom County sheriff’s deputy and a Border Patrol officer.

Medical Examiner Gary Goldfogel told The Bellingham Herald that both officers fired lethal shots in the death of 30-year-old Alejandro P. Martinez.

He was shot after he hit another deputy in the head as officers responded to a report he had been breaking windows at his home.
